Extracting Oil

• Petroleum is a very important resource
  • Found under ocean floor or land
• The crude oil is extracted and processed to form petroleum and the byproducts are sold, example - petroleum jelly is a byproduct
• After crude oil is processed, the obtained petroleum is used to make gasoline which is used in everyday life
  • Fuel driven transport vehicles
  • Refrigerators
  • Life jackets
  • Anesthetics
• When petroleum and petroleum products are burned they release toxic gases into the atmosphere. Namely CO2 which can cause shit ton of problems - ik them alr
• Petroleum, like coal and natural gas, is a non-renewable source of energy. It took millions of years for it to form, and when it is extracted and consumed, there is no way for us to replace it.
• Oil supplies WILL RUN OUT eventually, and that eventually is coming pretty dang soon. (2050 is the prediction)
• Finding alternatives to petroleum is crucial to global energy use, and is the focus of many industries.
