Retrograde motion:

• The apparent backward motion of celestial bodies
  • Basically, depending on the point of observation, celestial bodies appear to be moving backwards, but they aren’t.

Ptolemy:

• This suggested that planets moved in little circles while orbiting the earth
• This was suggested in conjunction with the geocentric model
• this is false, and so is the geocentric model.
